« Interreligious Dialogue in Times of Fracture»

In recent years, relations between Jews, Christians, and Muslims have been placed under extraordinary strain. Deepening polarization, conflicting narratives, and the impact of ongoing violence have challenged established forms of interreligious encounter and raised difficult questions about the possibilities—and limits—of dialogue in times of fracture.
This one-day workshop brings together Jewish, Christian, and Muslim scholars, practitioners, and institutional voices to reflect on how interreligious dialogue can be sustained when relationships are under pressure. Drawing on experiences of dialogue across religious and communal boundaries, the workshop will explore the challenges encountered, the responses developed within institutions and communities, and the conditions needed to preserve meaningful engagement in moments of profound disagreement.
The audience will have the opportunity to encounter voices from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim contexts who are actively working to keep dialogue alive even in times of profound fracture, and to hear about the challenges, tensions, and possibilities they encounter in doing so. The day will conclude with “Towards a Geneva Reflection,” inviting speakers and participants to reflect together on what has become difficult in interreligious dialogue, what enables it to continue despite profound disagreement, and what might need to be done differently.
The workshop will also consider publishing as a form of dialogue: how books, translation, and the circulation of critical voices can challenge established perceptions, open new intellectual spaces, and make perspectives from different religious and cultural contexts accessible to wider audiences.
